John Mitchell

Western Force Head Coach John Mitchell - former All Blacks coach, player and captain - has selected Dore Sport after hearing how the Program transformed the life of ex-Scottish Rugby International Kenny Logan.

John Mitchell explains why his players have improved with Dore Sport.

"Every athlete knows that striving for peak performance is as much about a person's mindset as it is to do with their physicality.

Rugby is a game of many different and varied skills. The positions are so specialised that even the smallest advantage to an individual player makes a massive difference to the team.

We explored Dore Sport because we are always striving to keep The Western Force on the cutting edge of development. The Dore Sport Program offered us this edge.

We decided to place eight players on the Program earlier this year. I was amazed at the initial assessment process and how the tests reflected the strengths and weaknesses already identified in the players by the coaching staff.

From the outset we saw positive results in key areas such as individual skill acquisition and game awareness. This manifest itself in technical skills such as catching, passing and kicking as well as with overall concentration, decision making and maintenance of high intensity levels over 80 minutes.

The Dore Program also helps in other areas such as self-esteem, confidence and reading, writing, spelling abilities. Several of the players have seen improvement in these areas.

Six of the eight players on the Dore Sport Program went on to compete in international games for Australia A and the Wallabies for the season. This was a significant achievement for The Western Force and we look forward to a continued successful relationship with Dore.

On the back of the results we continue to see I recommend that any elite sports team looking for the competitive edge consider the Dore Sport Program."

It is as if my mind has been opened up - it feels less cluttered. There is no doubt I would have played for England sooner if I had discovered Dore Sport earlier."

Junior Pelesasa

- Rugby Player: Emirates Western Force
- Position: Centre
- Super 14 Caps: 50

"The Dore Program has not only helped me on the field, but off it as well. Before I started the Program I wasn't interested in reading and found it hard - now after a few months of commitment to doing 20 minutes of exercises day I am reading books regularly. This is not to mention the massive improvement I have seen with my game. I feel more aware on the field and confident of my decision making ability."

"Before I started the Dore Sport Program, I used to get angry and stressed quite easily, however after doing the Program for 4 months I feel a lot more calm and focused."

James Hilgendorf

- Rugby Player: Emirates Western Force
- Position: Utility Back
- Super 14 Caps: 15

"I missed a large part of the season due to injury, so it is hard to gauge any on-field improved, however I have found that my reading has improved and my vision feels like it is better."

Troy Takiari

- Rugby Player: Emirates Western Force
- Position: Centre
- Super 14 Caps: 50

"I encountered problems with certain exercises due to dizziness. I was forced to cut down on the exercises to avoid getting sick which did help. I know that my hand-eye coordination has improved as I have been catching better and am able to catch and pass in the one motion at a much greater speed. This is also factoring in that I didn't really practice it any extra on the training ground. This improved aspect of my game improved my confidence considerably."
